Janáček Brno 2018 is dedicated to the memory of Prof. John Tyrrell
The late British musicologist Prof. John Tyrrell was one of the leading personalities of contemporary musicology on the international stage. His life’s work was connected with research in the field of Czech music and with the works of Leoš Janáček in particular. He stands among those deserving of great recognition for their efforts in spreading Janáček´s artistic legacy around the world. He is the author of many books, including an extensive biography on Janáček and musical editions of Janáček´s operas. He contributed to the birth of the Janáček Brno festival and his ideas were always an inspiration for the event during the following years.
